About

About

Anvari Studio was founded by Marjan Anvari in 2015. She is a visual artist and art conservator who specialize in restoration and conservation of European, Persian, and Islamic books, manuscripts, documents, and art on papers with over 20 years of experience.

At Anvari Studio, Marjan’s activities include preventive conservation, examination, treatment, and research. She has been working on different type of manuscripts, books, covers, paintings, and objects since she graduated from the Cultural Heritage Education Center of Iran in Conservation and Restoration of Relics. Marjan works with universities, museums, and private collectors to implement all steps of treatment and restoration of artifacts.

Marjan is a graduate of PSU with a Bachelor of Arts & Letters and a minor in visual arts. She is a passionate artist who has nurtured her creative spirit since childhood. As an art educator with a passion for her profession painting, she teaches drawing,  painting techniques and Persian traditional art called Tazhib. She learned the intricacies of Tazhib and calligraphy from esteemed traditional masters in Iran. Marjan's artistic journey led her to create her own interpretations of this beautiful art form and to reintegrate them into everyday life. She skillfully incorporates them into functional items, and creates a harmonious blend of traditional motifs with her paintings.

Marjan's artistic talent has been acknowledged by esteemed institutions. One of her work "The Frames We Live In" (2020) was purchased for the City of Lake Oswego's Permanent Collection. Additionally, she was honored by the Oregon Folklife Network as a Master Traditional Artist and culture keeper in 2016, where she mentored an apprentice in the traditional arts of Tazhib.
